St. Patrick's Day in Second Life - A Leprechaun Doll Cozy

I know I haven't been posting much lately - I've been pursuing a learning odyssey, one which will result in a fairly major post. But I'm not there yet. :)

However, it's St. Patrick's Day next week and this little guy insisted on his moment in the sun. So for you ... a Leprechaun Doll Cozy at a special price. Wish somebody you love some LUCK and give them a hug!

SL Griefer Drama Doll

I can announce the latest addition to the Drama Doll family - The Griefer Doll! Finally! I've been meaning to do one from the first but other stuff kept getting in my way and, since this is the number one doll in the suggestion box, I'm pleased he's finally done. Clown nose and all :)

I have others on the development platform, including the Land Baron and Baroness, but I have another project in the works so they may take a while. In the meantime enjoy the brat!

Unbending the Gender of a Doll Cozy

When I first designed the Doll Cozies I really liked the idea of a naked androgynous (or at least non gender specific) doll. After all, if it was good enough for OokPik it was good enough for the Cozies. Then this past month I created both a Santa Cozy and a New Year Cozy. It made sense to dress both of them - made them look more festive. It seemed like an innocuous enough thing to do....I certainly didn't expect it to create mayhem in the Cozy ranks!

When I arrived inworld yesterday I was greeted with a message from "The Doll Cozy Shop Steward". "The what?" I thought to myself. The message went on to say that the Cozies had had a meeting and demanded (wtf?) benefits equal to those handed out to Santa. Apparently the rest of the Doll Cozies felt humiliated being left naked in public whilst Santa and New Year got to strut around with suits on.

Now I don't actually believe there's a United Doll Cozies of Second Life organization. And I'm pretty sure they'd have trouble "walking" off the job. But I do believe they could mess with their scripts and since I find scripts problematic at the best of times I gave in and started making an outfit for the rest of the Cozies.

However, a generic suit of clothes was not good enough. (I really don't need this aggravation!) It turns out that the Doll Cozies have a strong sense of gender identification (I'm putting this down to hormones). Not only did I have to create clothes (and each Cozy insisted on its own outfit) but I had to create a male and female version for each type of Cozy.

You know the real reason they may have insisted on male and female versions of themselves is that there are now twice as many of them. However, if they think this will allow them to get away with making any more trouble they're in for a surprise. I have a few demands of my own now and if they don't live up to the terms of the bargaining agreement they'll get demoted to seagulls.

It took two long days of work but the Cozies (yes both the men and women) are now dressed and back at work. You're welcome to view the results of the uprising on Taylor Bay. I'm going to go have a rest and put this nightmare behind me.

Doll Cozies on Bourbon Street

If you've been reading my blog for anytime at all you know I love Von Johin. I also love his sim the French Quarter. I already have a little Aintree Garden Shop there .... right next to his club and right across from the big stern wheeler.

When a space became available on Bourbon Street I grabbed it and set up a small Doll Cozies store. There are some neat little shops around the place - you should come and visit. :)

The Diversity Hunt!

The Diversity Hunt starts tomorrow (August 8) and goes to September 9. I know this because Aintree Gardens and Drama Dolls are both included!

This will be a grid wide hunt but not an enormous one - and, as an interesting twist, there are five streams you can follow.

To quote Huntress Catteneo (who has done a huge amount of work setting this up):

  • This hunt is designed so that you can go out and find the items you most want from our terrific vendors. Just pick the colour path that corresponds to what you seek and begin your journey along the rainbow.

  • Don’t panic, you can walk down every path if you like, or you can stick to just one, the paths cross at some spots, so you can even change the one you are following if the whim takes you.

  • The hunt runs from the 8th of August until the 9th of September, so you almost have a week to spend on each path if you want to follow them all. There is no cost to join this hunt.
The paths are as follows:
  1. RED: Women’s fashion - clothes, hats, jewellery, basically anything you normally wear on an avatar
  2. BLUE: Men’s, unisex, or general humanoid stuff (Neko, furries etc) - Fashion and accessories not specifically for women and including shoulder pets, wings, tails, etc
  3. PURPLE: Furniture - all your normal household stuff, buildings, including such things as gazebos
  4. GREEN: Plants/landscape – Plants (+ plant textures), fountains, outdoor furniture and bridges
  5. ORANGE: Mystery – Textures, Art, and anything we can't categorize elsewhere

And in case it's not obvious :) Aintree will be on the Green path and Drama Dolls on the Orange. The hunt will start at: The Tiger Peak Shop You don't have to belong to a group to do the hunt but information will be shared in the Hunt2Hunt group and on the (still under construction) website. At the end of each path you get a cute wearable angel (I'm wearing the one from the Mystery Path). Each path's angel attaches in a different place so you could wear all five if you wanted. :)

It's surprisingly hard to decide what to put in the hunt object for gifts - I keep changing my mind. I think I'll wind up with two items. :) Now I just have to figure out where to put the angels for the hunters.

I'm looking forward to the Hunt and hope you'll all come join (and tell your friends)! :)

and the Chicken Reseller.

As always, these animated and interactive Dolls are designed to help you get closure on all that drama without having to resort to public scenes, trolling or violence. Enjoy!

Streaming inworld - finally!

I won't bore you with the lengthy and complicated process I went through to create the long and short video demos of the Kajira doll. I will say that, after 4 days, the combination of AutoScreen , WindowsMovieMaker and the ImToo Mpeg Encoder worked for me.

Once I had the shorter video on Youtube I then had to make it work inworld. Gack! I followed every instruction a gazillion times. Cris tried a few twenty dozen times. Although the unnatural and uncomfortable positions I put myself in were, no doubt, entertaining to any passing voyeurs - we were not successful.

Finally I decided to seek out one of those tv's that stream youtube videos inworld. I don't know what magic they have that isn't included in the instructions for the rest of us but they work. I bought one and set it up in the store, carved out a small parcel around it and restricted sound to that area. Now this shorter video plays for anybody who comes in. I'm seriously exhausted - although I haven't done much but sit at this desk all week. :)

This is the shorter video demo which (I hope) is available at Drama Dolls.

A Drama Dolls "How To" Video

It's too long I think. But, considering the handstands, backflips and summersaults I had to perform to produce this video ..... well I'll live with it until I can produce a better one. :)

This is to be available in the Drama Dolls store to answer the most frequent question asked - "how do the dolls work?".

Got Drama?

Have you been dissed in SecondLife? Had a lover cheat on you? Or maybe a perfect stranger held you up to public ridicule by posting your photo on a blog and making fun of your hair/skin/shape or clothes?

Well now you have an alternative to stalking behaviour or public scenes. You can have your pain acknowledged by the perpetrator and, most importantly, get a heartfelt apology.

Drama Dolls are animated and interactive! Give the doll the name of the person you wish to confront, tell them how you feel and sneer at their responses. Then when you have fully expressed the pain you have experienced, get an apology which clearly explains how they were in the wrong. Once the apology is complete the evil one receives their just reward.

There are many types of dolls available. For example, the above photo includes a Slebrity, Vampires and the dreaded Fuginistas (the Fuginisto is coming, he's still getting dressed). There are also Bloggers, Elves, Neko's, regular SL Men and Women and more. The range of dolls is extensive, although not yet exhaustive, but more will be added on an ongoing basis.

We have attempted to capture the essence of the various genres within SecondLife and Cris Lefavre has animated them in ways appropriate to their character.

There are two basic He and She Dolls. The next level up in terms of animations and dialogue are the wooden dolls, followed by the porcelain dolls.

The elite dolls are, of course, the Royals. The Drama Queens, Drama Kings and the Homosexual Theater Performance Monarchs (HTPM for short - and thank you to Raul Crimson for their title). Because Drama knows no boundaries, all of the dolls will converse in ten languages: English, French, German, Dutch, Norwegian, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian and Japanese.

There is also a positive side to drama - to assist you in that area we have the Doll Cozies.

Both of the Cozies deliver your message to your friend/lover/partner/spouse with a heartfelt hug. The doll with a posie in its hand also gives you a little extra in the way of animation and a pot of matching flowers.

Come and see how Drama Dolls can help you get through all of the various emotional ups and downs of SecondLife.
