One of the most important lessons I've learned in the past 2 years is that the first thing to do in a crisis is to take a deep breath, count to ten, and gather information about the situation before acting.
Douglas Adams was right: DON'T PANIC!
So, when I get a smattering of IMs or see a post or two on Twitter or Plurk, I take a look at @SLGridStatus, @SecondLife, and the usual suspects.
If there isn't an incident log on it, determine the scope of the problem, what will constitute a solution, and what the proper avenue is for obtaining that solution.
When the solution is in place and working... THEN bring out both shotguns and start blasting away at those responsible. ;)
