Interesting Post About Identity

Dusan Writer has written an interesting post about identity. Although I'm still smarting from the phrase "one of those dreaded augmentationists". I may have to come up with another adjective to describe myself. :)

If you want to be an Augmentationist, you can just be one of the non-dreaded ones. :) The dreaded ones are the ones that won't even talk seriously to someone unless and until that person reveals their RL name and location, and wouldn't properly appreciate (say) a really cool elevator...

(it isn't too bad, I agree) :)

Hmmm....you sure you're not an immersionist? :) Dale has it right - the dreaded augmentationists not only ask for your RL data but insist on friending you on Facebook, and then ask "but your avatar doesn't even LOOK like you....how come?"

I don't think so. :) I don't publish my rl info on my profile .....but then I also don't wear a nametag with my SL info in rl.

However, I also don't proclaim (loudly and frequently) that they are separate and nobody's business.

I do try to be the same person in both - albeit with different names.

I do see SL as an opportunity for me (the rl me) to be creative and participate in communities and events that I otherwise couldn't.

I don't believe I have to be the same height in SL and RL - anymore than I believe that we can't have dragon or robot or furry av's.

I do believe in the phrase I saw in comments somewhere - that I'll live both my lives as close together as reasonable to avoid conflict and the possibility of injury to anybody.

This is a lot of philosophy - I'll stop there. And I'll ponder whether either "ist" is inclusive enough. :)
