Burning Life 09 - Man vs Woman Mashup!

Beauty combined with wit is always a delight and that's what you get with the Man Versus Woman Helix Tower Mashup! by Scarp Godenot. This is a gorgeous and interactive build you climb. Here and there are platforms with competing quotes from men and women about men and women.

I really enjoyed the journey and so did everybody else I saw doing it. Well worth your time!

Burning Life 09 - What a "Trip"

I would not normally inhale unknown substances but, for you the reader, I decided I'd better try it just in case your health and welfare were at stake. I suspect the person who built the Berlin Stage may have tried the same thing....but wow it was worth it!

The world started to get a little mystical .....

and then it got a little creepy......

and then really creepy, but I focused (in a blurry way) on trying to save the world from destruction.

This guy really pissed me off ......

I normally obey signs that say "Don't Feed the Bird" but I guess the fumes were getting to me....

... and I'm pretty sure I could have climbed these stairs successfully if I hadn't been in a slightly mind altered state.

But I really knew I was in trouble when I started to live out the lyrics to a Jefferson Airplane song.

I think I'll go take a nap...or maybe have a snack.

Burning Life 09 - Starax - Love Art

I've barely begun my travels through Burning Life today but I really wanted to share this with you. Off in the corner, on Burning Life Elko, is an exhibit called ***Love Art***. I don't understand the history (you more informed residents will) but there is a plaque which encourages people not to destroy/hide art and to love it. Well OK :)

The real reason I'm posting this is that there are a number of pieces by Starax and they are available to you for free. I'm sitting on the Yak, there is the Vertu Cow, the Fallen Angel, the Thing in a Crate and pieces by other artists which are also available. So if you ever wanted to own one of these - now is your opportunity. :)

Burning Life 09 - Gulliver by Ub Yifu

I have a love/hate relationship with Burning Life. I love exploring it and seeing all of the amazing builds...the creativity and skill are awe inspiring. I love the feeling of community at Burning Life. The people you meet, both the artists and the explorers, are friendly and genuinely interesting to talk to. Well, the griefers not so much. :)

I hate the fact that I didn't do anything this wonderful myself.

So, in spite of the damage to my whimpering ego, I go every year and immerse myself in the wonders that SL can bring us (and the opportunity to take photos of myself sitting on various things).

I chose my first visit based on something I saw on the map - a very large man. I thought it would be the usual guy on fire - but it's not. It's Gulliver - what a great image for Second Life! And Ub Yifu is a fabulous builder/artist.

You may be familiar with his avatar. :)

The Gulliver installation is interactive (try sliding down his leg) and full of details. You really should spend some time exploring it just to appreciate the thought and skill that went into its creation.

What a great way for me to start my Burning Life 09 voyage. :)

Hello Wrath?

Can you hear me? Happy Real Life Birthday Wrath Paine! You've been noticeably absent from SL for quite a while now. I realize this is a result of a combination of Survivor, a torrid love affair and your work as an undercover agent for a secret alphabet agency.....but I intend to recognize the day anyway. So here is a bouquet of irises just for you!

I hope your various endeavours are bringing you joy and success. Just don't forget to feed that fish of yours. :)

Musings on " Being Known For"

Note: I would credit the creator of this image but it's on so many blogs I couldn't figure out who originated it. My thanks to the person who did!

I was going to write a blog post about Philip Linden's Announcement but Dusan Writer has written something that expresses my feelings much better and much more coherently than I could. You should read his post!

A funny thing happened when I went to the SL Blog and read Philip Linden's post.....I started to read the comments. Now I don't spend much time in the forums and so I'm certainly not an expert regarding the folks who might be considered regulars there. But I read one of the comments before I looked at the name and I knew instantly who must have written it. Their smug style and sour content were unmistakable.

I was looking at comments in a related Plurk and the same thing happened. A different person was writing but I immediately recognized them from their tone and bitter words.

I wasn't going to write this post but, later in the day, I saw a Plurk comment from this same person on a different topic and it happened again. I knew who it was from the style and content.

Every so often I come back to the topic "What do You Want to be Known For?". These two people have obviously chosen to be known as miserable, negative individuals convinced of their own superiority. They are loud, consistent and both ensure that their voices are heard in as many locations as possible in the metaverse. So I guess that if even somebody as unconnected as me could recognize them, they have achieved their goals. :)

SL Scam - VirtualGet.Net

There is a site with item listings apparently harvested from XStreet that is a full out scam. None of us have listed our items there. The word I got is that they're phishing for credit card info. I can assure you that no item will be delivered to you - they don't have the items. They just have the text etc. from the XStreet listings. Don't try to buy anything on this site!
