Burn2 - Greetings, Sore Feet & The DMV

I got up very early this morning and headed back to the playa. I'm starting to panic about how many things I have left to see and do (and yes share) but I also have this huge problem. My feet hurt. A lot. Looking for a solution I went to the main gate and started talking to one of the greeters.

Jondolarr Larsson is one of the Burn2 Community Guides (and if I wasn't too old to notice these things I'd have to add "gorgeous" but I am so I won't). These friendly helpful volunteers are there to help you make the most of your Burn2 experience so I was really hoping he could help me with my bunions.

Jondolarr led me over to the Department of Mutant Vehicles (DMV) - this group of Hotties (no really, that's what they're called, it's a long story) spend all their time building and maintaining a fleet of (let's call them) 'transportation devices' for use on the playa. Jondolarr himself has made a few "tour buses" and showed them to me .... including this unique, um, bus. :)

As I understand it, the DMV accepts all comers as volunteer Hotties during the year and includes newbies, scripters, builders and all round burners who work together and support each other in learning and creating. Frankly, as long as it means my feet won't hurt anymore they could be misanthropes and I wouldn't mind, but I'm glad they're not. :)

On the playa itself you will find DMV stations set up - look for the logo and the gas pumps. Rezzers are provided which give you the choice of 16 different vehicles for use as you explore.

First I tried the hot rod. It's cute and seemed my speed, but the lack of a roof was a problem. I'm going hairless so as not to add to lag and burning the top of my head in the desert is not on my "bucket list".

Next I tried the flying vacuum.

This is cool and I'd certainly be able to cover more territory quickly but again, peeling scalp is just not attractive. I took a gamble and tried the Big Wheel.

This seems perfect. I'm high enough I can see, it steers beautifully, my feet are happy and there's a roof so I won't offend all the skin police out there.

I'm heading out to do some more exploring. I'll report back tomorrow.

Honour, I tried finding you in SL and couldn't. You are one of the few people actually blogging the Burn so I pointed to you. I have linked to your Burn2 posts here: http://gomiso.blogspot.com.

Awww You would not have had to have a peeling scalp on the Vacuum Cleaner, it conveniently handed out hair and quite appropriately curlers.
